They Get Everything Wrong

Throughout my adult life, I've been a skeptic. Back in the days before social science departments fell prey to fill-in-the-blank studies, professors in the social sciences taught that a healthy dose of skepticism and a balanced approach to life's questions was the path to learning. Skepticism, in healthy doses, used to be called common sense.

Yet, today's political world leaves me a skeptic's skeptic.

I no longer believe in polls of any kind. A quick look at today's polling shows Trump's approval rating fifteen points between the highest approval and the lowest. (In case that doesn't click, fifteen points is a large statistical discrepancy.) Yet no one in the media seems to notice the absurdity of such a discrepancy.

The polls were spectacularly wrong with the presidential election last year. Democrats and republicans alike truly believed that Hillary Clinton would win the election. The political pundits knew it. The news media knew it. Yet, the election wasn't even close in terms of the electoral votes. Some polls were 180 degrees from being accurate.

More recently, the polls showed Jon Ossoff, the democrat who ran against Karen Handel in Georgia, leading in the recent special election. The obscene amounts of outsider money spent on Ossoff should have ensured his election. The news media jockeyed for position to claim the election was a referendum against Mr. Trump and his policies. Yet, the polls and the predictions were absolutely incorrect, and Handel won. The news media then tripped all over themselves to claim the election had no meaning whatsoever.

This year, we've been subjected daily to news stories which have promised a dire end to the Trump administration over his supposed collusion with the Russians. Even at the outset, the charges leveled at Mr. Trump and his campaign were so far-fetched, they should have been laughed at by any rational person.

Naturally, after months and months of harping about Russian collusion with no evidence to support their claims, those who promulgated the story now lash out in every direction, trying to find something on which to blame their failure to predict the election. Yesterday, it was Russian collusion. Today it's obstruction of justice. Tomorrow, it may just as well be small, furry creatures from Alpha Centauri who came to earth with the sole purpose of electing Trump.

The people who run the polls, the reporters who dominate the news, are not rational. They are ideologues who swamp the internet, the airwaves, and the newspapers with predictions based on what they would like to see happen, rather than what is. The news has filled with blatantly inaccurate predictions and with crass, violent rhetoric. All this is now reported as "news."

This inability to come to grips with reality is delusional. The shouts of the crazed media in reporting their version of reality only demonstrate these delusions. The agonized cries of the delusional media spread the mental disorder throughout our society. That they are proved wrong again and again and again doesn't correct their delusions. Rather, like a religious nut standing with a sign that predicts the end of the world, the media make a bigger sign and shout louder.

Which is why I am now a skeptic's skeptic. I reject what the polls say. I reject the predictions of the pundits. I reject the media who publish their delusions as news. They have all shown themselves to be what they really are, political hacks who live in a fantasy world of wishful thinking and who have deluded themselves into replacing reality with their fantasies.

Thank You President Barack Obama: What Your Agenda Has Done For Me

As we bid farewell to the most successful president since FDR (It's totally true! MSNBC said so!), I'd also like to offer my thanks to Mr. Obama for all of the things he's done for me.

In 2009, when Mr. Obama took office, I was running a successful graphics design business, I had a lot of money socked away, I was partners in a couple of real estate development businesses, and I had a pretty good teaching gig at the local college.

When Obamacare was passed in 2010, I decided to take a second university teaching job as the rumors at my current school were that teaching staff would be cut back. Sure enough, with the new year, my hours and salary were cut 60%.

Thank you Mr. Obama.

That same year, my university position made the same cuts, and I was making half the salary there as well.

Thank you Mr. Obama.

Because of the "stimulus" package, my real estate deals - which admittedly had been traumatized by the mortgage company crash of 2008 - were no longer viable. Federal government regulations kept changing, the SEC rules changed almost weekly, and loan companies refused to lend out money with such an uncertain market. I lost about 90% of that income during those years.

Thank you Mr. Obama.

Because of "progressive" pressure to increase minimum wages, my graphics clients - mostly restaurants - started to go out of business. From 2009 until 2012 when I sold off our office building, my business of 18 years lost more than 50% of the income.

Thank you Mr. Obama.

And, by the way, when I and my partners sold off the building, we lost about $10,000 on it since the real estate market refused to bounce back.

Thank you Mr. Obama.

In the meantime, I took a third teaching job, working with special needs kids in the private sector, just to make ends meet.

Thank you Mr. Obama.

When the individual mandate to buy health insurance became active in 2014, my insurance premiums increased 100%.

Thank you Mr. Obama.

This year, my insurance premiums increased 106%, and my deductible doubled. There is now only one health insurance carrier in Phoenix, Arizona. The insurance carrier that I'd had for many, many years, refused to sell individual insurance in 2017.

Thank you Mr. Obama.

Despite the high-cost insurance, my savings were wiped out last year because my wife and I actually had medical costs. I also had to raid my retirement fund to pay hospital bills.

Thank you Mr. Obama.

Now there are "news" casters, and celebrities, and crass women, and other progressives across the country weeping, and wailing, and gnashing their teeth because Mr. Trump promises to put an end to Obama's Utopian ideal.

Thank you Mr. Trump.

Some Thoughts on the Women's March Against Trump

A lot has happened since I was last able to log on and write a few words on the passing scene. Progressive politicians and the news media have gone out of their way to prove they are indeed part of the zombie apocalypse. Their uniform hatred of all things Trump have finally sucked what few brains they have left, out of their skulls, to dribble uselessly on the asphalt.

Barack Obama finally moved out of the White House. (I'll get to some thoughts on Barack Obama in another post.)

Donald Trump was sworn in as our 45th president. And millions of men and women protested.

OK, I don't get it. Sure, the women and men protesting Trump are upset and angry. I get that. Sure, they feel as if the election was stolen from them. I get that. After all, nearly every news media has confirmed that lie over and over again.

What I don't get is what the heck these people (if they are indeed part of the human race) are really protesting.

Some are protesting Trump because ten years ago he used a vulgar term when referring to a woman. How do these women protest? By glorifying vulgarity with "pussy hats" and by listening to some Hollywood elites spew foul and crass obscenities.

I mean, really Madonna? You're traumatized by Mr. Trump? This coming from a woman who redefined vulgarity in 1984 with a song about how her latest boyfriend makes her feel like a virgin all over again? Then, in the video, she gets off on a boat and a table? Or how about your book showing the raunchiest fetishes known to humans? Or how about the time you posed nude for Playboy? That wasn't vulgar? And what about those metal cone bras? Or the fetish reenactments on stage?

Some are protesting Trump because they think he'll eliminate "women's health care" in America, which in Progressiv-ese is code for "he'll cut federal funding that pays for women to murder their unborn babies." Any more, feminist dogma has little else to commend it, except for its rabid support of human fetus control.

Some are protesting Trump because Hillary lost, and she deserved to win the presidency because she was a totally liberal woman and had the correct anatomy and it's about time we had someone with the correct anatomy leading this country, darn it!

Which is about the lamest excuse for electing a person to the highest executive position in the country that can be manufactured.

I suspect, however, that the real reason most of the women and men who protested over the weekend did so because their brains have been utterly laid waste by the ignorant and shameful progressive dogmas that permeate our schools and our media.

And truth be told, it is precisely these whiney, incoherent, vulgar, ignorant, elitist, socialist displays of rage and hatred that have turned the tables against the Democrat party and the progressive ideals.

Mary Did You Know Sung by Mark Lowry

On this Christmas eve, here's my favorite version of this song, sung by the man who wrote it and Voctave, one of the great singing groups of the day. What do ya'll think?
